NCPHWR Deputy Director and SHRN Director, Prof Simon Murphy, presented at the Senedd on 19th April on the topic of Physical Activity of Children and Young People.
Simon commented, “In relation to CMO guidelines, the majority of children and young people do not meet the recommended levels of daily physical activity. This has significant implications for their health and well-being and life course risk factors. Welsh Government are taking an evidence-based approach to identifying future national policies to address this issue. They are especially interested to hear about the innovative work that we have been doing with SHRN in identifying what schools are doing to promote physical activity and a pilot study on the use of role models for girls to inform future strategies.”
NCPHWR as a centre aims to engage with policymakers, at national and local government level to provide evidence-based research to enable them to improve their policies, services and future plans.
